Hello!

I thought I'd introduce myself and imagisme through my favorites, inspirations, and some fun little facts.

The idea of making a blog came from my mentor, Jennifer Duval (go check out her website and blog on my inspirations page, she’s amazing!) I was originally going to showcase some of my work from client photo shoots I accompanied her on by posting on her site, but I soon realized I had too much to say for just a few posts over the course of my school photography project. Thus necessitated the creation of imagisme and this inaugural post! Follow onward for more about me and my photography.

This is the current background for my laptop- a little reminder that spring is coming to brighten my day! Taken  May 2008.

Me? I'm Mariah. I like musical theatre, open windows, and being organized. I love taking pictures and being in them.

I have two brothers, one niece and one nephew, and an incredibly close Irish-Italian-German extended family that is too large to even begin to number. My attempts to capture my always fun and sometimes insane family on film (well, JPG) is what set my entire photography venture in motion, and they are a constant source of support and inspiration.

I’d love to be a travel photojournalist- travel, photography, and writing are three of my favorite things and travel photojournalism wraps them all together in a lovely bundle.

Music is where I got my creative beginning. It’s an incredibly integral part of my everyday life- I've got iTunes shuffling as I write this- and I can’t imagine becoming the person I am without the influence or experiences I've had in music and theater. The mood or story I want to portray in a photo shoot is often inspired by the music I listen to and the plays I see.
